ARTIST’S STATEMENT

"I was always an artist. As a child, I drew and painted as a hobby. I had the passion early in life, but it wasn’t until I came to the United States eight years ago, that I fully realized that art was the path that I had to take to completely express myself. Once I started in earnest, there was no turning back. It is no longer a matter of choice for me; I am compelled by the creative process. I do it because it beckons me. In order to paint, I have to let my emotions run free; the process has a life of its own, which I don’t control, I merely participate in it."

"I am a hopeless romantic; I love classical music and opera. Those influences inspire me as much as anything else. But I am also inspired by life, by the people I see just going about their daily tasks. I look for feelings in others and in myself and try to capture them in my work. The world is one big canvas, if we just take the time to look closely at the beauty of each day.

BIO:

Daniela is following in the footsteps of her uncle Albert Lindi, a renowned Swiss painter. Having begun her studies in Switzerland, Daniela came to the United States to expand her knowledge and abilities. As an art student in Marin, she began to draw attention to her fresh style.

From the beginning, Daniela has been fascinated by Cubism, geometrical forms and light infusion. This has brought a contemporary style to her paintings, inspired by her experience and her emotions. Daniela, who goes by her first name only, uses color unsparingly in her work. Her pieces exude a sense of joyous emotion, which she highlights as her major goal. "I like to use bright and lively colors," Daniela says, "and lines that are soothing." The curvaceous lines of her paintings transmit sensuality; colors fade into each other and shapes come together seamlessly, recalling early Cubism gestures.

A native of Switzerland who grew up speaking Italian, Daniela longs for a lost "joie de vivre," as she commented. "Having a positive outlook on life brings me to create images and colors that emote harmony and well being in people. We live in such a demanding world, it is nice to slow down once in a while and remember old virtues, to bring more feelings and love to our lives."

Among various gallery exhibits throughout the United States and Europe, Daniela has participated at renowned art festivals in California and Arizona. She was also chosen to be the featured artist for the "ArtFest" in Scottsdale, AZ, and for the "20th La Quinta Art Festival". Daniela’s works have been displayed at Stanford University, the Resource Center for the United Nations and the "Art Expo," for whom she hand painted a Levi’s jacket held for auction. In 2004, the Government of the United States granted her a visa for extraordinary capability in the field of Fine Arts.

Currently, Daniela has made her home in Switzerland and in the USA. Expanding her views from both different cultures.
